 Resaca Orders

Near Macon, Georgia

  May 5th, 2012

GENERAL ORDERS                                                                                           

No. 004 }                                                                                                  

The General Commanding Confederate forces in the vicinity of Dalton, has ordered the concentration of forces under his command to begin at or near Resaca, Georgia on the afternoon of the 18th instant or as soon thereafter as is possible for the purpose of thwarting the anticipated enemy advance upon Atlanta.

THEREFORE:

I.  Battalions shall submit to Brigade Head~Quarters a Roster of Field, Staff and Company Officers, and anticipated aggregate strength not later meridian on the 11^th instant.

II.  Take such necessary measures to ensure your command is informed, supplied, and equipped to meet the needs of the Service for the duration of the Campaign. All rations, ammunition, Arms and accoutrements shall be in good order and secured for use.

III.   At your discretion, quit your present locations at such time and date as to ensure your command will be concentrated at or near Resaca, Georgia and ready for immediate service beginning on the afternoon of the 18th instant and no later than 7 o’clock ante meridian on the 19st instant.

IV. The Order of Battle for the Brigade shall be determined and promulgated during an officers’ call to be held on the evening of the 18^th instant.

There is still room for Confederates to fill the ranks for Maryland my Maryland. This is the Antietam event discussed at the meeting. If you participated in Shiloh you will understand the type of event this will be. Everyone that was at Shiloh can easly pass muster for this event. If you elect to go follow the instructions on the events page fo registration. Also please contact this office if you intend to go.
